After a cold, rainy and windy July the summer finally arrived in the start of August.
The last few weeks there have been plenty of coalfish between 5-10kg in the fjord, but to catch the really big ones drop-offs outside the fjord is the right place. The biggest ones caught lately have been approx. 15kg.
Like every summer big cod is found feeding on coalfish around the shallow peaks outside the fjord. The biggest cod caught lately was 23,5kg.
Several groups have been targeting halibut lately with good results. One group had 17 halibuts during their stay, up to 130cm. Most of the fish have been caught on coalfish and shads on depths between 15-40m. The topfish the last few days was 142cm.
Some more unusual catches to mention are big ling and an anglerfish.
The autumn is approaching, the time for big plaice and halibut.
Tight lines!
