The weather has generally been favorable lately, allowing us to reach the best fishing spots most of the time.
Cod fishing has been excellent, especially in shallow waters. This week, for example, we caught cod up to 19 kg in just 10 meters of water. Using small shads and light tackle makes this kind of fishing particularly enjoyable.
Large coalfish start to show up even in the fjord, with top catches exceeding 13 kg, offering exciting fights.
Pollock are becoming more common around the shallow kelp-covered peaks.
Halibut fishing has been very productive recently, with several trips with 10–12 fish. There are currently large numbers of halibut between 10–40 kg being caught in shallow waters, around 10–15 meters deep. The real trophy fish, however, have remained elusive.
There are large numbers of pink salmon in the fjord right now, and we often make a quick stop on the way home to catch a few.
Sea trout fishing has been strong as well, with the best outing producing 26 fish between two anglers, with the largest weighing 3,5 kg. June is a great time to combine sea trout fishing from land with boat fishing.
